Enjoy this spectacular adventure through one of the most scenic and transforming sections of the Coachella Valley. Discover the intriguing history of the "east end" as you drive to your launching pad. Stories ranging from our railroad, to desert plant life, to the Coachella Canal, to General Patton's 1,800,000 troops training for Desert Warfare.
Once you arrive, it's your turn to explore and soak in the rugged beauty of this ever changing 19.5 mile downhill adventure. This gently sloping paved road will carry you past a wide variety of desert plant life. Discover the Ocotillo, the Palo Verde tree, the Mesquite, and Creosote bushes, along with the occasional sightings of desert wildflowers.
And then the fun begins, as you turn the corner and become immersed in the walls of the "Box Canyon". Wall made from the pressure of two of the earths plates colliding and passing one another. The colors and shapes will amaze you as they change from corner to corner. You are in the San Andreas Fault!
Your final turn and directly in front of you is the Salton Sea. Considered one of the wonders of the world, this 40 mile body of water contains stories and history that you can nearly touch. The Chocolate Mountains as the backdrop makes this a view for the ages.
Crest the levy and gaze across the valley to the now agriculturally rich city of Mecca. Grapes, Oranges, Grapefruit, Strawberries, and nearly everything you can imagine growing is right before your eyes. Ride across the Coachella Canal and through the heart of these rich fields of produce.
